As an alternative here are driving directions for access from Austin, Delta and Montrose. Be advised that the Peach Valley Road will not have been plowed but probably will have had traffic. Don't plan on a sedan, unless you know it is really good in snow on a gravel road. Directions to the Association Flying Site from the East Side; From Montrose and points south: Take Highway 50 north to Falcon Rd. which is located about one mile south of the stop light on the highway where you‚€™d turn into Olathe. You will see a BLM sign at Falcon Rd. indicating that it is an access route to the Gunnison Gorge NCA. If coming from the south, turn right onto Falcon Rd. Take Falcon Rd. east for about 3.6 miles. At that point you will pass 6400 Rd. on your right, and the pavement will end shortly after that. Continue straight ahead and the road will become Peach Valley Road, and will turn north. After about 6.25 miles on the Peach Valley Rd. you will cross into Delta County, and the boundary should be signed. At about 6.8 miles you will come to Delta County 2445 Road, where you will turn left (west). In approximately one quarter mile you will cross back into Montrose County and the road number will change to 6200. At about 2.5 miles from the Peach Valley Road you‚€™ll come to the Selig Canal and the turnoff to our flying site. All of you familiar with the flying site location will recognize this point. You will also see the County‚€™s work in progress to replace the rickety old bridge with a new concrete box culvert. This sounds more complicated than it is, there are very few turns involved after you leave the highway. All mileages are calculated from Google Earth, so expect them to be approximate. From Delta and points north: There are at 2 ways to access our site from this direction. Both are shown below. Although these will sound complicated there are very few turns at intersections involved with either route. From Austin off Highway 92: Turn south on 2200 Rd. You will remain on 2200 Rd. At about 1.5 miles you will come to the intersection with H Road. This can be a confusing point because 2200 Rd. actually goes left at this intersection. If you do not make this left, you will end up on H Road and need to backtrack. From the H Road intersection continue south on 2200 Rd. for about 3.6 miles until you hit F Road, where you will turn left (east). After about one mile on F Road you will come to the intersection with 2300 Rd. continue straight ahead and you will then be on the Peach Valley Road. Remain on the Peach Valley Road about 5.2 miles to the intersection with Delta County 2445 Rd. Turn right onto Delta County 2445 Road. Be aware that in approximately one quarter mile you will cross back into Montrose County and the road number will change to 6200. From Delta: Drive south on Highway 50, and approximately 0.5 miles south of the Delta ‚€" Montrose Technical College you will turn left (east) onto D Road. D Road will eventually swing north and become 1900 Rd. However, you do not make any turns at intersections until you come to F Road, which is about 2.7 miles from Highway 50. At the F Road intersection, make a right turn (east), and continue east on F Road for approximately 4 miles at which point you will hit the intersection with 2300 Rd. Continue straight ahead and you will be on the Peach Valley Road. Remain on the Peach Valley Road for approximately 5.2 miles until you come to the intersection of Delta County Road 2445 Road where you will turn right. Be aware that in approximately one quarter mile you will cross back into Montrose County and the road number will change to 6200. At about 2.5 mile from the Peach Valley Road you‚€™ll come to the Selig Canal and the turnoff to our flying site. All of you familiar with the flying site location will recognize this point. You will also see the County‚€™s work in progress to replace the rickety old bridge with a new concrete box culvert.
