Glider towing.

Post

:DI was wondering if anyone would be interested in glider aero towing at our field. I have a Goldberg Tiger 60 that will tow up to 6 pound gliders and a Hanger 9, 1/4 scale Tiger Moth that will tow up to a 15 pound glider. Please PM me and let me know or on this thread for further information.

Ok, maybe we could get Anthony or AJ to lift one of the gliders up to 1000 feet and let her rip!

Of course, my Spirit Elite will be up to it! Think I need to build a new flight pack now, but other than that, she's ready to go. It'll be interesting to see how towing behind the Tiger differs from being behind the Telemaster.

The Tiger 60 has flaperons, so it will slow down for the lighter/slower gliders.

Cool video. Must go higher with a stabilized quad copter and a high performance glider. Nice video, though. Thanks Anthony, welcome back.

i wondered about putting together a tow plane, but then wondered if anyone would have any gliders that could be towed.

Jim F. has one with ailerons. Bob H. has  a couple, I thought. The Slingsby Gull is pretty big with a 12 foot wingspan. Anything with ailerons can be towed fairly easily.

Here's a big glider, towed behind a B-17.

Thanks for sharing that video  Randy. I do not remember ever seeing that particular military glider before.  Love those old films for the war effort.

That was designed by Hawley Bowlus, the man who designed the Albatross.
