Hand propping a Murphy Moose.

Post

Hi There,

Mike R. was hand propping the Association's trainer the other day for the Civil Air Patrol fly in. Today, I was helping a fellow hand prop and taxi-test a Murphy Moose at the Westwinds Airport, just north of Delta. It was really fun. It taxied straight and true, so the landing gear was straight and the disc brakes worked great! Here is a link to the Murphy Moose on Youtube, enjoy!

Pretty cool! (Where are the wheel chocks???)

Those fellows, apparently, applied the wheel brakes manually or perhaps, they had a parking brake they used.

wheel chocks would be more prudent. They don't fail. Interesting how the engine seems to fire, maybe on a single cylinder , then starts to kick over onto additional cylinders.  That plane sure could be a 3/4 size Beaver if they'd only change the tail outline it'd sure pass for one.
