Multi rotor fever

Post

OK, I have caught multi rotor fever. I am waiting for a quad copter to make it's way across the ocean to my doorstep. An SH5HD to be exact. Extra batteries have already been ordered and I have entered into negotiations to acquire a used iPad mini for my head unit.

I have even been looking at 250 racer fpv kits to build.

Guess I have the bug!

I have had interest in trying fpv, probably fixed wing and long distance rather than close and multi-rotor, but man it's a confusing mess all the cameras and goggles and this and that.

Ok, soon we'll have the makings of an fpv race event!  With Paul getting the bug it guarantees things are going to go fast.

Just a tweak of interest, like I said, seems a confusing mess trying to learn off the gear.

Plus I doubled down big time on dynamic soaring with a plan to hopefully demolish the colorado record this spring.

A big bird.  very big.  very heavy.  not many exist.

So you'll be breaking our your composite molding materials again to build this big heavy bird?  If so, we'll be watching.

Uh, i bought a D130...

130" wingspan, 36.6 pounds.

Currently one has gone 514 mph at bird springs pass in california.

Which servos will you use, Paul? That is a monster.
Will you need a couple of guys to launch it?
That will leave a mark!

No more than two to launch.  Servo's are already it in, it is built and ready to go.

So it was ready to go except for radio?  We have any potential flying sites for something that heavy in CO?

All Right! Back to the subject of this post please! :-)

For less than $100 I ordered my FPV googles, transmitter, receiver, and camera. It is 5.8 Ghz with 48 channels, so it should do long range just fine.

Now if I order the 250 FPV Racer quad copter kit for $65 I should be really close to getting it done. Add a battery and a receiver and that should complete the package. Of course I have some of those in the garage, so maybe I'll just pilfer from there and save the $$$.

My Quad Copter is still not here, but hopefully by Monday! Though it has a camera, it is not 5.8 Ghz or truly FPV, but kind of. It will be a fun first start.
