CARL SHOUP IS IN ST. MARYS, AND IS NOT DOING WELL

Post

Everyone,  Carl is in St. Mary's hospital.  He is in room M148 at this time.  As of Saturday night he was battling a staff infection that was moving throughout his body and attacking his heart.  I was informed that his kidneys and liver were getting weak and they feared they would start shutting down.  Please keep Carl in your minds, hearts, and prayers.  Also, please go and see him if you feel led to and give him your encouragement.  Let him know that we care about him and he needs to get well and fly some more.

See Tippodriver's post from 6:12 pm today for the latest update.

Sad to hear, hope they can fix him up so he can get back up and about.

I just saw Carl in the hospital today. He is doing better but he has to stay  a few more days to continue taking the antibiotics for him to recover.
He is lucid and coherent, when he is awake. The pain meds make him drowsy. He was happy to have company and non- hospital food.

Oh man that sounds so much better than what we heard earlier.

Carl, you will be in my family's prays. I hope you hang in there. An infection like this is nothing to take lightly.

Randy, thank you for the update and for making the trip and visiting Carl.

Stopped to see Carl yesterday evening but he was sleeping. Figured rest was more important than visiting so I just left him a note.

If you go to see him, he is in Intermediate Care Room 148 which is on the 1st floor in the River section. Hope that helps.

I was there yesterday, and he has been moved to the third floor.(I've forgotten the room number but i will check and add it here later.) Although he is doing better, he is still weak and tires quickly. He fell asleep often. I think he's glad to see visitors but he wants people to call first. At this point don't expect to spend much time with him.

UPDATE: Carl took a turn for the worse today, and is currently in ICU. His sister told me that they do not know what is going on yet, and are running tests to sort things out. So for the time being, visiting is probably out of the question. Send him all the positive energy you've got folks. He needs it!

I don't know Carl, but I sure hope he pulls through. I know he's done much for you folks and others over the years.

The lastest as of now is that last nights scans of his brain came back clear and good.  They are still searching for the cause of the fluid in his lungs and his kidneys not getting the fluids out of his system.  He is in the ICU room 308.  You take the elevator to the third floor and get a badge to get into the ICU area.

Thanks for the update Don. I didn't call Carl's sister last night because I thought she might be exhausted and I'd just let her get some rest if possible.

I didn't think that anyone but family could get into the ICU room. Good to know.
