The Civil Air Patrol would like to launch rockets and fly their powered glider on Saturday 4/22 at 9 AM. If you can be out at the field to lend a hand and/or give the cadets some buddy box time, please post below. I have an Association Trainer and buddy box setup someone can use, but I will not be in town to help out.

Should be a fun time, sorry that I will miss it!

It was good the last time out, so should be OK this time too. I guess we aren't going to feed them this time?

The way it looks right now I will be able to be there on saturday but I don't any longer have a trainer in flying condition. What radio does the association trainer have. I have only futaba and a round plug cord.

The Association trainer I have is complete with buddy box.

Food, slipped my mind. I would donate some hot dogs, buns, and some chips if someone wants to commit to being the cook.

How many folks do you expect, Andrew? Thanks,

Randy

Looks like 8 or 10 cadets and they will bring their own snacks. They can just launch rockets and fly their glider, but it would be really nice if they could get some buddy box time too. Sorry I will be out of town.

Looks like Randy, Mike R. & Jim F. will be out there.  I will send the trainer with Mike.

Have a great time!

I guess we'll be there at 08:30 to open things up for them at 09:00. I'll bring the Jester, so they can fly it a little.

We had a good day, at the field with the Civil Air Patrol cadets. The weather was excellent. Cmdr. Bob O'Rourke arrived with about 10-12 cadets and launched rockets with amazing success. They shot straight and true and a couple of them did not deploy their parachutes for recovery and lawn darted into the soft soil!  Mike R. and myself showed up, initially, followed by A.J. and Bob H.
Mike R. got the engine running well on the club trainer from Andrew. Mike flew with some cadets on the trainer and  I flew with some on Bob's Calypso motor glider. We were cruising around half power when the Calypso locked into a good sized thermal and headed for the stratosphere. I resumed control from the cadet and tried to bring it back down to where we could comfortably see it. I spiraled it, tightly, to make it descend and it was still climbing! It had no spoilers or flaps to help it come down, so I rolled it inverted and it came down nicely.
Cmdr. Bob said thank you very much for letting the cadets use our field for the rocket flights and he and the cadets appreciated the flight time provided by us also. A good time was had by all.
