June Meeting

Post

All - With the events of the past month and me being out of town during our regularly scheduled meeting, I would like to move June's meeting to Saturday 6/18 at 10 AM at the field. We could follow it with a Mini-Fun Fly for a little extra fun. Let's hope for good weather! See you out there!

Did my dues check ever turn up? I'm not exactly sure who to contact about it?? We'll come to the meeting Saturday.

Gary, I know Don found your check and I thought he deposited it. Whatever the case, come to the meeting and we'll get it worked out. See you Saturday!

It is important that we have as many members at the meeting as possible. We have a lot of important items to discuss that may effect everyone!

If we want them to show up, they should probably be called, and given some idea what the topics we need to discuss might be. I'll be glad to call some of the folks tomorrow evening, even though that's a little late.

Andrew,  when on Saturday is the board meeting and if I remember correctly you plan to have it in Delta. For the life of me I can't find the communication from you about it! Thanks

I personally think we had a pretty productive meeting & even picked up a new member. We saw a lot of enthusiasm for the coming season!

June Membership Meeting
Saturday June 18, 2016

Members Present:

Andrew Weaver - President
Michael Rice - Trustee
Jim Zimmerle
Gary Heard
Allen Satur (A.J.)
New Member - Mike La Bruno from Hotchkiss (hope I got his name correct!)

Meeting was called to order at 10 AM with three members present, two more members arrived shortly after and one guest. We discussed the recent changes with Carl's passing and Cliff resigning, and the need to fill the vacancies on the Board and in Offices. Let them know that Randy (had to work so he could not attend the meeting) was willing to fill one of the vacancies. Gary also stated that he would be willing to take on a position. Let them know that until the Board can meet and get things started, we are in a holding pattern.

We discussed what we can do to rebuild the Club and make our meeting & events fun again and get more members to participate. We all agree that the future of our Club depends on getting more members and keeping them active. Some ideas were to be more active in Community activities like having a float in the parades and having another booth at the Airport Open House. Other ideas were drawings for prizes at the meetings with an entry given if the member brought a plane to discuss or a show-and-tell item.

We discussed upcoming Club activities like having a Fun Fly at the Crawford Airport and making it a family friendly outing, trying to get Wives and Kids in the mix again. We also talked about upcoming events like the Airport Open House, Partner's Day, Men-in-the-Mix, etc. and how these are good opportunities to get the Club in the public's eye. Also the Civil Air Patrol is interested in coming out to the field again.

The meeting was adjourned at approximately 11:15 AM

Respectfully Submitted by Andrew Weaver - MMAA President

Looks like a small group of attendees, but a bunch of subjects we really needed to cover. Did the 12 volt batteries in the cabinet get bid on or sold via a 50/50 drawing?

Community participation is pretty critical, and is one of the reasons we have the current property. We were not essentially invisible in the community at that time. Yes we did floats in parades, and had a connection with the CAP. I'm glad to hear that they may be interested in participating again. Hopefully, we will be able to continue to participate in Men in the Mix as we have for about 10 years.

Partners: for some reason attendance there has dropped off, and I sincerely doubt that it is due to fewer kids needing assistance. However, we must have some members with connections with church groups, Scouts, etc. There have to be untapped sources of kids to participate, and perhaps to suck Dad or Mom in too. It's happened before.

Glad to hear that Gary is willing to fill in a position. He'll be a real asset, as will Randy. We need the new blood too.

Sounds good, Andrew. We're moving to Delta, this weekend. The Westwinds Airport Open House is tomorrow, Saturday from 08:00 to 15:00 (3:00PM).
There will be free Hamburgers and all Beef Hot Dogs and free drinks, water, coffee. They should have Randy Miller's Super Stearman with smoke, making passes and hopefully giving rides. They should have a couple of parachute skydivers also, soliciting new business from Grand Junction. I'll be there all day helping park cars and airplanes that come in. Hope to see you there.

Onward and Upward.
